Sunday, December 7, 1941, they swooped in from the north in waves of torpedo, dive, and fighter planes that were launches from six Japanese carriers. As the planes arrived over Oahu Island, they came upon a large US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. At 7:58 a.m., the first bombs exploded. The last Japanese plane departed around 9:30 a.m., leaving a mass of destruction and 2,402 American soldiers dead. In the aftermath, the public had many questions. Why was the American military surprised? Who was to blame for this catastrophe? Join our speaker as he narrates the events, and the myths of December 7th.

Looking back on women’s roles in history we can’t miss the role that over one thousand women played during WWII. These women were aviators and were known as the Women’s Air Service Pilots (WASPS). These female pilots overcame overwhelming cultural and gender bias because of their non-traditional roles. They faced injustices and inequalities throughout their service and life. Their fight for their rights spans more than seven decades and finally culminated in 2016.
