Philanthropy

The Sherwood Oaks Fund raised over $9 million to build a new senior living community in the Pittsburgh area, the philanthropic spirit has been active at Sherwood Oaks.

The purpose of The Sherwood Oaks Fund is to engage in fund-raising activities which support the capital and operational programs of Sherwood Oaks. The Fund is not permitted to support any entity other than Sherwood Oaks.

The Sherwood Oaks Fund enables people to make contributions, knowing that their gifts will stay within this retirement community. Donors have confidence that their gifts will be used wisely, as The Fund is led by a governing board consisting of nine voting directors with a variety of connections to Sherwood Oaks.

Donations

Memorials and Honorariums

Memorial and honorarium gifts may be made in memory or in honor of someone. Honoring a loved one through a charitable gift is often an especially meaningful act of paying tribute to a special person.

Bequests

A bequest is one of the most popular vehicles for making a long-range charitable gift. The economic stability of Sherwood Oaks is enhanced by inclusion in a will or other type of charitable bequest.

Charitable Gift Annuities

With a charitable gift annuity, the donor makes a charitable donation of cash or other property and receives fixed, guaranteed payments for life. Because a portion of the gift will be used for charitable purposes, the donor is entitled to an income tax deduction in the year the gift is made.
